Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know which therapist is the right one for me?

The only way to know for sure is to come in for a session with us. Most people have a good sense of whether someone is the right fit for them or not within the first session or two.

Do you provide in-person or online counseling?

Most sessions are conducted in-person at the office; however, we do offer online counseling through a secure, easy-to-use telehealth platform.

Do you help people who have had severe traumatic events happen in their lives?

Yes we do. All of our counselors are trained to help you no matter what traumatic event or events you have endured.

How long will I need to wait before my first appointment?

Availability varies depending on which counselor you are wanting to see. Some may get you in within a week while others are booked out several weeks and their availability is limited.

What can I expect from counseling?

Many people can feel nervous before their first appointment. Counseling is a shared journey; a shared process. While we will be traveling together, ultimately your life is your own journey and you will make your own decisions. You can expect to be treated with respect and dignity while working together on whatever topic you bring to session.

What happens during the first session?

The initial session is an opportunity for you to share your story and talk about what you would like to change. Another important aspect of the first session is to determine if you are a good fit with the counselor you are seeing. Counseling is about you, not the counselor, so we want you to be completely comfortable with the counselor you are seeing. You will begin to figure out some goals and we will begin to figure out how we can help you get there.

How long do appointments last?

Most sessions last 45-60 minutes.

How often will we meet for counseling?

Frequency of appointments depends on the individual and the counselor they are seeing. Depending on the symptoms of the individual and the availability of the counselor, an adequate frequency can easily be established that meets your needs.

Do you accept my insurance?

Many different insurance options are accepted for counseling. Go to our Rates and Insurance page to learn more.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. All client-counselor conversations are private and confidential. It is also confidential information that a person is meeting with a counselor. Only in rare exceptions when the safety of a client or other is at risk can disclosure of confidential client-counselor information take place. Your counselor will go over these rare exceptions with you in session.
